Who we are
Locals Guide is an Australian curated local business guide operating on the Gold Coast and surrounding suburbs. This policy explains how we handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles.
What we collect
- Enquiries and contact forms: your name, business name, email, phone, suburb and message.
- Advertiser listings: business details, contact details, opening hours, photos and any deal you publish.
- Payments: subscription and customer identifiers returned by our payment processor. We never see or store your full card number.
- Technical data: basic server logs and anonymous usage data used to keep the site running and improve it.
How we use it
To publish and maintain listings, respond to enquiries, process subscription payments, send service emails about your listing, and produce the printed Locals Guide editions. We do not sell personal information, and we do not send marketing emails to visitors who haven't asked for them.
Who we share it with
Only the service providers we need to run the guide: our hosting and database provider, our payment processor, and our email delivery provider. Each handles data under their own security obligations. Public listing details you supply are, by design, published on the site and may appear in print.
Storage and security
Data is stored on secured cloud infrastructure with access restricted to us. Listing management links are secret tokens — treat yours like a password. We keep enquiry and billing records only as long as we need them for business and tax purposes.
Cookies
We use only the cookies and local storage needed for the site and checkout to function. We do not run third-party advertising trackers.
Your choices
You can ask us to access, correct or delete your personal information, or to remove your listing, at any time. Contact us through the contact page and we'll action it within a reasonable time.
